Le Namaste Iyengar Yoga Retreats

Most of us think of sandy beaches or mountaintops when we hear “yoga retreat”. If nothing else, we are all about unusual alternatives, and we feel perhaps it is equally powerful

to begin realistically, learning how very possible it is to carve out time for a daily practice without actually moving to deserted island. However wonderful a fantasy that can be at times, our challenge is to incorporate Yoga and meditation, into our daily, exciting, modern lives.

Many of today’s popular styles of yoga or Pranayama (breath work and meditation) descend directly from B.K.S. Inyengar, so even if you are unfamiliar with his name, if you’ve ever rolled out a yoga mat, chances are you’ve already tasted the fruit of his eighty-plus years of study (you read right!) and extraordinary commitment to bringing the practice of yoga to the rest of the world. This intense, focused and inwardly – directed style of yoga creates not only a calm, quiet mind, but can create astoundingly simple relief from emotional and physical pain and stress. We are not suggesting you travel all the way to Paris to spend all day doing yoga (unless you are coming to study with M. Faeq Biria (see “friends of ours”), in which case, we highly recommend it), However, beginning, or ending each day, with a practice is a perfect complement to enjoying chocolate éclairs in the park – and may change the way you look at your yoga practice, as well as time management, forever.
